Melanie Warner, Founder & Graphic Artist Melanie Warner is an award-winning American graphic artist known for her logo design and brand development for cybersecurity researchers, firms, non-profits, and conferences. Since launching Hotiron Creative in 2002, she has designed for Fortune 100 companies, publishing, ad agencies, and big tech. She built a multimillion-dollar luxury audio brand, joined BSides Las Vegas as staff artist in 2016, and now designs exclusively for the information security community. After spending most of her adulthood in NYC, she lives with her partner in Idaho. Who I Am I’m an artist in cybersecurity. Hackers and creators share this common trait: imagination. The most talented researchers are driven by an insatiable curiosity to gain novel access in order to prevent unauthorized access. That same level of curiosity also produces novel solutions to branding and visual identity. The ability to hit a target no one else can see is what sets us apart from machines. I admire the consequential work of security engineers, researchers, policy makers, and activists in a critical field in which I’m personally invested. Hackers are uncommonly resourceful, open-minded, scrupulous, and divergent thinkers. They know the power of good design to affect change.
