Highlands School District is a public education district in the Pittsburgh region that serves four municipalities: Fawn Township, Harrison Township, Brackenridge Borough, and Tarentum Borough. Based in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, the district lies about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh and serves roughly 2,400 students with a professional staff of educators and administrators, supported by a substantial group of support personnel. Operating within the Education Administration Programs field, the district seeks to build a solid educational foundation through coordinated efforts at home, in the community, and in schools, with annual goals to improve programs, services, and facilities. Students are guided by RAMS—Respectful, Accountable, Motivated, and Safe—values applied across classrooms, playgrounds, and extracurricular activities. The district emphasizes an innovative curriculum and a dedicated teaching staff aimed at challenging students and developing lifelong skills. In September 2024, Highlands announced the launch of free menstruation stations in its schools, a collaboration with LuLus Free Store intended to address period poverty and support student well-being.
