Henry's Home Horse and Human Sanctuary is an all-volunteer nonprofit based in south Conroe, Texas. It rescues horses and provides them with a permanent home and meaningful work through the Horses & Heroes Equine Learning Program. The program offers local veterans and first responders as much time as they want with the sanctuary's 33 horses, including therapeutic ground training and arena, obstacle course, and trail riding lessons, at no cost to participants. Besides this, the Horses & Heroes Ranch Life Mentoring Program gives participants the opportunity to learn or teach practical ranch skills—such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, welding, mechanics, pasture and pond maintenance, gardening, and ranch cooking—through hands-on projects at the sanctuary. The organization operates on a donated 21-acre property and collaborates with other veteran-service organizations to support its activities. For organizations seeking engagement, the sanctuary offers volunteer workdays, family events, and equine-assisted team-building experiences that focus on leadership and communication through interaction with the horses.
