Since 1895, Hebrew Free Loan has served the Jewish community of Metropolitan Detroit (and later all of Michigan) by making short-term loans without interest to individuals who have no other means of help.

Through donations from generous individuals, Hebrew Free Loan helps people achieve financial independence, small ventures to launch, and much more. Our loans enable members of the Jewish community to go to college, adopt children, establish or expand their businesses, enjoy a summer camp experience, celebrate weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs or help with an emergency that arises. 

Hebrew Free Loan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization participating in community outreach and fundraising; including direct mail, in-person contact, advertising, special events and membership campaigns. There are many ways to support our important service to people in need through our annual giving campaign, the Major Loan Capital Campaign, Tributes, general donations, endowments and named funds.
