Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling provides mental health services focused on grief and serious illness, integrating art-based therapy with individual and family counseling. The center operates from a cozy carriage-house setting in Ramsey, New Jersey, designed to feel like a home away from home and equipped with spaces such as an art room and a family room to support healing. It serves clients aged from 4 to 99 and draws participants from communities across New Jersey and New York, with referrals commonly coming from schools, medical practices, and other Hearts & Crafts families. Founded in 1994 by Laura Hudson, a board-certified art therapist, and co-directed by Terry DeBrule, a licensed clinical social worker, the organization offers a range of services including art therapy, individual and family counseling, and various support groups for children, teens, and adults, alongside community education. Scholarships are available for qualifying clients, and the center has grown to serve approximately 250 clients annually.
