HealthFirst Bluegrass Inc. operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center in Lexington, Kentucky, delivering medical, dental, pharmaceutical, behavioral health, integrated health services, family and social services, and health education for people of all ages. The organization emphasizes culturally and linguistically appropriate care and seeks to advance accessible primary medical care as a human right through advocacy and community empowerment. It has served uninsured and underinsured residents of Lexington-Fayette County since 1981, originally operating as the Primary Care Center of the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. It was incorporated as HealthFirst Bluegrass in 2011 and became a fully autonomous nonprofit in 2015. In the Hospitals and Health Care industry, the center maintains partnerships with community-based organizations, civic groups, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to sustain its programs. In 2021 and 2022, HealthFirst Bluegrass collaborated with local partners to host COVID-19 vaccination pop-up sites, and in 2022 Dr. Deborah Stanley received the Joseph E. Smith Award.
