Headlands Center for the Arts is a nonprofit multidisciplinary arts center that supports artists and the development of new ideas and artwork. Located in Sausalito, California, the organization operates from a campus of artist-rehabilitated military buildings near Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands, within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It hosts programs that welcome artists across visual, performing, musical, literary, and videographic disciplines, offering opportunities for independent and collaborative creative work that contribute to artists’ careers and visitor experiences. The center also organizes public events several times a month, such as open houses, exhibitions, conversations, community meals, walks, and workshops, intended to connect audiences with art in real time. In addition to its residency-focused activities, Headlands hosts a range of public programming, aiming to foster engagement between artists and the broader community.
