Guidance Carolina (GC) is a private, non-profit organization based in Greensboro, North Carolina, established in 1979 to provide person-centered assistance, intervention, and advocacy for older adults and people with disabilities. The organization fulfills multiple legal and protective roles, including Guardian (Full Guardian, Guardian of the Person, Guardian of the Estate), Agent under a Power of Attorney for Financial and Healthcare, Trustee of Special Needs Trusts, and Representative Payee. GC serves individuals with dementia, developmental disabilities, severe brain trauma, and mental illness, many of whom have limited support networks. Its approach centers on listening to clients, maintaining community connections, supporting self-direction, recognizing talents and contributions, and sharing responsibility for supports, all with the aim of maximizing quality of life and autonomy. In November 2025, GC launched RISE for Change: Reimagining Elder Justice Care Management, a 36-month initiative to reduce adult maltreatment and transform care management for older adults in Guilford County.
