Gotham Gazette is a New York-based nonprofit news outlet reporting on issues, policies, and politics affecting the city’s eight million residents. It combines original reporting, analysis, commentary and aggregation to inform New Yorkers and contribute to public debate about decisions shaping life in New York City. The publication provides weekday, in-depth coverage of city concerns and runs an Eye-Opener morning digest that consolidates top local stories for a broad view of the day’s news. Operated under the Citizens Union Foundation of the City of New York, Gotham Gazette originated in 1999 with support from the Charles Revson Foundation and functions as nonprofit journalism in New York City. In early 2023 it announced a hire connected to Brooklyn coverage and expanded its Max Politics podcast, reflecting ongoing development of its reporting and discussion platform.
