Golden Gate Opera is a regional performing arts organization based in Marin County, California, focused on presenting opera and related arts through live performances and educational programs. The company aims to make high-quality music and theatre accessible to audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds by leveraging partnerships with sponsors and by presenting work in unconventional venues, including performances in schools and community spaces. As a professional company member of Opera America, GGO maintains professional standards and participates in industry conferences to connect with other North American opera organizations.
Operating with a small organizational footprint, Golden Gate Opera emphasizes both traditional and new works, drawing on a roster of Bay Area professional artists and emerging talents from across the United States. A notable aspect of its activity is engaging the broader community through outreach, such as school programs and public presentations, and expanding the reach of opera through events like intimate, community-based performances.
