Go Conscious Earth is a Congolese-founded global nonprofit in the environmental services sector that acts locally to secure land tenure and support Indigenous Peoples and local communities of the Congo Basin in managing their traditionally owned forests and pursuing sustainable livelihoods. The Congo Basin rainforest is described as a globally important ecosystem for biodiversity conservation and climate stability, and the organization situates its work within that broader context of forest stewardship and resilience. To date, GCE has helped communities preserve 82,000 hectares of high-integrity tropical forest as Local Community Forest Concessions and has engaged 17 villages, totaling over 33,000 community members, in community forestry, participatory land use planning, and sustainable livelihoods. The organization’s mission and vision emphasize thriving local communities contributing to the health and resilience of the Congo Basin rainforest through sustainable management of their lands, with Indigenous and local communities as caretakers who support biodiversity and climate resilience. GCE is based in Durham, North Carolina, United States, at 1000 Willbea Road, and maintains a website at gcearth.org, supported by a small team of 2 to 10 employees.
