The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is a mid-sized, Brussels-based trade association in the Brussels-Capital Region serving the wind energy sector. It aims to open new markets for wind power and has supported market development in emerging economies such as China, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa and India, with recent activity in Mongolia, Argentina and Vietnam. The organization collaborates with policymakers and industry bodies to ensure wind energy is positioned as a viable solution to current energy challenges, highlighting environmental and economic benefits. GWEC's membership comprises more than 1,500 companies, organizations, and institutions across more than 80 countries. It focuses on policy development, global outreach, information and education, and events that connect wind sector stakeholders and facilitate market access. In March 2026, GWEC launched the Wind Action Plan, outlining policy measures to accelerate wind deployment and strengthen energy resilience.
