Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is a mid-sized nonprofit council that administers the Girl Scout program in Georgia and parts of neighboring states. It is based in Lizella, Georgia, and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan organization. The council seeks to advance the Girl Scout mission by helping girls develop courage, confidence, and character through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, in a safe space that encourages healthy risk-taking, exploration, and mentorship. The organization serves more than 8,000 girls and 3,000 adult volunteers across 122 Georgia counties and two counties in South Carolina plus one in Alabama, covering a footprint of more than 48,000 square miles. The Girl Scouts movement was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, in 1912, and in May 2026 the council hosted a Legacy of Leadership event in Savannah.
