GeoHazards International is a nonprofit organization focused on reducing deaths and suffering from natural disasters by addressing risks associated with earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and floods. The organization supports communities that are highly vulnerable or have limited capacity to mitigate hazards by building local expertise among engineers, scientists, government agencies, universities, and builders, with efforts often targeting school and hospital readiness, safer construction, and development policy. Its work spans diverse settings—from nations and cities to smaller communities and vulnerable groups—emphasizing practical risk reduction and family- and neighborhood-level preparedness. Based in California and founded in 1991, GeoHazards International operates field offices in New Delhi, India; Aizawl, India; and Thimphu, Bhutan, and conducts projects in more than 40 communities worldwide.
