The Genesee Center for the Arts & Education is a small, community-based not-for-profit in Rochester, New York, focused on making visual arts education accessible. Originating in 1970 as The Genesee Street Corporation, it relocated to a historic firehouse on Monroe Avenue and was incorporated as a 501(c)3 educational institution in 1974, becoming the only community visual arts center in the City of Rochester. The center offers programs in Photography, Ceramics, and Book Arts, along with youth programs, classes, and workshops, rents studio space to individuals, and exhibits work in its galleries. Anyone may take classes, though access to some facilities requires membership, and the center is an Institutional Member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
