In 1841, led by then Governor John Motley Morehead, Greensboro began to make an impact on the lives of NC citizens. He believed that Greensboro should be a relevant part of transportation throughout the state. He convinced the major railroads of the time to “bend” their tracks through one major depot, and the Gate City was born. If you wanted to go anywhere, you would go through the Gate City (Greensboro).
