Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is a 501c3 educational organization centered around our mission to promote, encourage, and sustain student interest in careers across all functional areas in insurance, risk management and actuarial science. With a growing network of 5,000 students and 35,000 alumni from 147 colleges and universities throughout North America, Gamma Iota Sigma leads the sustainable growth and diversification of the industry’s student talent pipeline. GIS members benefit from world-class programs, innovative partnerships, critical industry support, expansive campus engagement, and an unrivaled lifelong professional network. Incorporated in 1965, GIS has over 50 years of experience engaging students and preparing them for careers in insurance, risk management and actuarial science.

The Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation, established in 2022, serves a mission of ensuring equitable access to careers in insurance, risk management and actuarial science by lowering social and financial barriers for all students interested in industry careers through four key focus areas: Mental Wellness, Professional Development, Chapter Support and Accessibility. This mission aligns with Gamma Iota Sigma's vision of leveling the playing field so that all students, regardless of background, can pursue their desired career path, ultimately diversifying and sustaining our industry’s talent pipeline.
