Friona Industries LP traces its origin to 1962 when a small cattle feedyard began in Amarillo, Texas, amid growing recognition of the Texas panhandle's resources. Founding partners anticipated that cattle feeding was connected to a broader network of businesses, including meat processing, feed manufacturing, and trucking. Today the privately held firm operates eight feedyards across Texas and Kansas, with a capacity that ranks among the top two worldwide, supported by a vertically integrated production system for its branded beef lines in U.S. retailers.

The company is based in Amarillo and sits within the ranching industry. Its branded products are distributed to about 2,300 retail stores across the United States, and the organization maintains a mid-sized workforce.
