Founded in 1996 by Jessica Fredericks and Andrew Freiser, Fredericks & Freiser is one of the defining independent galleries of its generation. As an early presence in Chelsea, the gallery helped establish the neighborhood as a global center for contemporary art. Its ground-floor space on West 24th Street, designed by architect Andrew Ong, reflects a commitment to clarity, rigor, and the presentation of ambitious work.

From its inception, the gallery has supported artists whose practices demonstrate originality, formal intelligence, and independent artistic languages.
