The Florida Supreme Court Library functions as a legal research library housed within the Florida Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, and it is accessible to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its origins date back to 1845, making it the oldest state-supported library in Florida. The library's core purpose is to support the work of the Supreme Court and the attorneys who appear before it.
Since 1956, Florida law has designated a librarian whose sole responsibility is administering the library, replacing the previous arrangement in which the court clerk served as librarian. The library operates with a minimal staff and remains part of the state's Administration of Justice sector.
