Finibanco S.A. is a small bank based in Porto, in northern Portugal. Founded in 1993, it operates within the banking sector and has historically maintained a broad branch network, with 172 branches reported in 2008. It is part of the Finibanco Group, a Portuguese financial group that also includes Finibanco Angola, a credit financial institution, and an asset management company. 

In 2010, Montepio Group completed a takeover bid for Finibanco Holding SGPS, acquiring nearly all of Finibanco Group's equity. As a result, Montepio owns essentially the entire Finibanco Group, and a merger between Montepio and Finibanco S.A. was expected in the near term. The arrangement places Finibanco within the evolving structure of Montepio's financial holdings.
