Family Crisis Services (FCS) is the domestic violence resource center that serves people affected by abuse in Cumberland County, Maine. We provide safe and accessible services regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender, age, primary language spoken, or immigration status. The mission of FCS is to provide programs which focus on individual advocacy and safety for domestic violence victims and their children, to work for and encourage institutional change to assign responsibility for abusive behavior to the perpetrators, and to change the cultural values which perpetuate and support domestic violence through community education. We have extensive services including a 24-hour hotline; emergency shelter for victims of abuse and violence; support and education groups; safety planning, support, and advocacy through outreach programs in various locations in Cumberland County, Maine, including courts; and we provide extensive community education, consultation, and training including through our ground breaking Young Adult Abuse Prevention Program (YAAPP).
