FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano is a non-profit organization based in Milan that aims to protect and enhance Italy's historical, artistic, and landscape heritage for present and future generations. It manages a network of sites ranging from villas, castles, and abbeys to towers, shrines, and even stretches of coast and forest, totaling 73 properties. Of these, 55 are open to the public and 18 are under restoration, with volunteers helping to run campaigns and welcome visitors.

The organization conducts major national campaigns that bring heritage into public view, opening formerly inaccessible places and organizing events, conferences, and guided visits. It also operates a public census, I Luoghi del Cuore, allowing people to nominate and vote for places they value to support protection and enhancement. In 2025, FAI partnered with Fondazione Berengo to present Jaume Plensa's Water's Soul.
