It represents Kildeer Countryside School District 96, Lincolnshire–Prairie View School District 103, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125, with Fox Lake District 114 participating as a non-voting member. The cooperative operates eight elementary schools, four middle schools, and one high school to serve students with special needs ages 3 through 22. 
Its service area encompasses multiple communities including Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Long Grove, Lincolnshire, Riverwoods, Prairie View, Hawthorn Woods, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Zurich, Mettawa, Fox Lake, and Spring Grove.
