European XFEL is an international X-ray research facility based in Schenefeld, in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany, with operations connected to the Hamburg area. It functions as a scientific user facility that provides researchers with high-intensity X-ray laser pulses to support a wide range of experiments. The facility is managed by nonprofit European XFEL GmbH and is supported by twelve member states, including Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Researchers worldwide rely on European XFEL to access ultrafast, powerful X-ray beams that enable investigations at atomic scales. In 2023, the organization partnered with Pro for nano to advance liquid sheet jet technology used in its experimental work.
