In the 1980s, one-phone-per-house which brought significant changes to the everyday lives of Koreans was realized by the development of TDX; Time Division Exchange, fully digital electronic switching system. Korea stated to dominate the world’s semiconductor industry by its development of 4M DRAM successfully. During 1990s ETRI once again astonished world by commercializing CDMA for the very first time in the world. In 2000s ETRI developed Terrestrial DMB, WiBro, and 4G LTE-Advanced which became the foundation of Mobile Communication. 

Building on its past success, ETRI continues to dedicate in R&D to maintain its place among world’s best research institutes leading creative economy.
