The Endometriosis Research Center (ERC) is a Delray Beach-based nonprofit foundation focused on endometriosis research, education, awareness, and advocacy within the wellness and fitness services field. It was founded in early 1997 by executive director Michelle E. Marvel, and it collaborates with international researchers, scientists, industry professionals, and clinicians to advance understanding and treatment of the disease. The organization participates in ongoing research activities, including recruitment for clinical trials of proprietary new treatments and involvement in genetic studies, and it was connected to the development of the world's first self-collection kit for endometriosis screening. It has supported early research into aromatase inhibitors and angiogenesis and pursues outreach through publications, videos, and media engagement. As an advocacy group, ERC was among the first to raise awareness with U.S. policymakers, contributing to formal awareness legislation and the later creation of a Legislative Toolkit on endometriosis.
