EMVCo operates as a global technical body that manages the EMV specifications and related testing processes to ensure secure, interoperable payment transactions across face-to-face and remote channels. In March 2026, EMVCo released Version 1.0 of the Electric Vehicle Open Payments Use Case, outlining an interoperable approach for EV charging payments. It has also pursued ongoing collaboration with industry groups such as the Car Connectivity Consortium, CharIN, ISO, the Open Charge Alliance and the Secure Technology Alliance.
