The El Dorado School District is a public K-12 system with eight campuses in El Dorado, Arkansas. Its elementary division comprises four K-4 academies—Hugh Goodwin Academy for the Arts, Northwest Environmental Studies Academy, Retta Brown Academy for Communication & Technology, and Yocum Academy for Math & Science—each blending student-interest themes with a rigorous curriculum and up-to-date technology. Washington Middle School serves grades 5-6, Barton Junior High covers grades 7-8, and El Dorado High School serves grades 9-12 with a wide Advanced Placement program and extensive extracurricular offerings. The district backs teachers with professional development, mentor roles, math and literacy instructional support, and district-level endowed chairs in math, literacy, and science. It also administers the El Dorado Promise scholarship program, funded by Murphy Oil Corporation, to support graduates pursuing higher education. In March 2026, the district announced the appointment of Brett Shockley as head football coach.
