The Eastman School of Music, established in 1921 by George Eastman, founder of Eastman Kodak Company, is the first professional school of the University of Rochester, located in Rochester, New York. It seeks to combine broad liberal arts education with intensive musical training, positioning itself as a significant force within higher education in the region. The Collegiate Division enrolls about 900 students—roughly 500 undergraduates and 400 graduates—drawn from nearly every state, with international students comprising about 23 percent.
