The Eastbay Astronomical Society (EAS) serves Bay Area residents and astronomy enthusiasts with events, classes, and Oakland’s premier views of the universe. Experience the wonder of gazing into infinity with the friendly experts at EAS by attending our events and joining the club! The club hosts a weekly free telescope makers' workshop and monthly free astronomy lectures at Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland — the general public is welcome to attend.

Membership benefits include:
--monthly meetings with featured guest speakers who are prominent in astronomy and space science;
--members-only viewing nights, outreach star parties at local schools where we share our telescopes with kids and their families, and special observing events such as high altitude star parties, eclipse viewing parties;
--telescope rentals and advice;
--access to astronomy library;
--newsletter subscription;
--camaraderie with like-minded people who love learning about telescopes, astrophotography, astronomy and space science.

Amateur astronomers of every age and level of experience are welcome at our events. Join us!
Many club members also volunteer at the Chabot Space & Science Center in the Oakland hills, where our club maintains and runs Chabot's historical and new telescopes. Come meet some of our volunteers during free viewing nights on every Friday and Saturday night (subject to weather/humidity). We're a friendly bunch who loves to explain concepts in astronomy.
