East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is a public regional university located in East Stroudsburg, in northeastern Pennsylvania. It operates within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and traces its origins to 1893, when it opened as East Stroudsburg Normal School. Today, the university offers more than 50 undergraduate programs, 20 master's programs, and two doctoral programs, enrolling over 5,600 students. The institution serves a diverse student body with a focus on high-quality, affordable, and accessible education in the region. It also has a sizeable statewide alumni network, with nearly 30,000 graduates residing in Pennsylvania. In March 2026, ESU announced a partnership with Applied Video Technology, Inc. to convert a racquetball and squash court into an esports production facility capable of supporting live broadcasts and competitive gameplay.
