DKT International is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., founded in 1989 to advance family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention in the developing world through social marketing. It operates in more than 100 geographies, aiming to empower individuals to make reproductive choices by expanding product options, delivering educational campaigns, and ensuring affordable, accessible health products. The organization pursues its mission through four approaches: a classic social marketing model that leverages the private sector, regional sales that build brand trust, the 2016 acquisition of WomanCare Global to broaden safe abortion access, and online resources to reach people beyond formal programs. It is supported by nearly 3,000 employees worldwide, and in 2025 delivered more than 70 million Couple Years of Protection, making it one of the largest private providers of family planning. That year’s activity included roughly 1 billion condoms, 136.6 million oral contraceptives, 37.3 million injectables, 6 million IUDs, and more than 39 million safe abortion products, with outcomes including 55,400 maternal deaths averted, 22.6 million unsafe abortions averted, and 27.8 million unintended pregnancies averted. In May 2026, DKT announced the launch of two new oral contraceptives in the Philippines, reflecting ongoing product expansion.
