Distress Centre Calgary offers around-the-clock crisis support, professional counselling, and 211 referrals to a broad network of community, social, government, and health resources at no cost. These services provide a reliable point of contact during times of crisis and are accessible by phone, text, or online chat. The organization has delivered this essential service to Calgary and the surrounding area for fifty years. In addition to general crisis services, Distress Centre Calgary operates ConnecTeen, a youth peer-support program that offers multiple ways for young people to connect with volunteers, with peer support available from 3-10pm on weekdays and 12-10pm on weekends. It is piloting a Community Information Exchange in partnership with other non-profits and public sector services in Calgary to expand how information and supports are coordinated.
