The Detroit Concert Choir is an internationally recognized vocal ensemble based in Detroit, Michigan, noted for its choral artistry and expressive performances. Its repertoire encompasses early a cappella and sacred works as well as contemporary pieces, American folk and gospel, and major choral-orchestral masterworks. The group serves local audiences and the broader choral community through performance and education, rehearsing in the Grosse Pointe Woods area and drawing more than 70 singers from over 35 communities around Detroit. The choir was founded in 1987 by Gordon Nelson and led by him until 2014, after which an interim year featured Associate Conductor Stan Harr. It is now entering a new chapter under director Dr. Brandon Johnson. As an organization, it emphasizes promoting choral music of high artistic merit and cultural enrichment for the community through ongoing performance and educational activities.
