The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the United Kingdom's largest government department in Government Administration, based in London, England SW1H 9NA, and employs more than 10,000 people. It administers the State Pension and a range of working-age, disability and ill-health benefits, and is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy, serving around 20 million customers. Its objectives include understanding and addressing the causes of poverty rather than its symptoms, encouraging people to work and making work pay, and enabling disabled people and those with ill health to work and be independent. It also provides a decent income for pensioners and promotes saving for retirement, while seeking value for money and aiming to reduce fraud and error.
