Denver Food Rescue is a nonprofit in the civic and social sector that works to reduce food waste while increasing access to nutritious food for Denver residents. The organization recovers surplus perishable food from more than 25 retailers and distributes it to No Cost Grocery Program partners, often by e-bike through a volunteer-led network. NCGPs are community-led grocery distributions located in areas with limited access to fresh, nutritious food, and they operate without required signup or proof of income. In 2024, fresh fruits and vegetables accounted for 58% of the food recovered. The work is guided by three guiding principles: Climate Action, Nutrition Security, and Social Justice, with emphasis on centering communities affected by inequities. The organization is based in Denver, Colorado.
