CUAir is a Cornell University student project team focused on developing autonomous unmanned aircraft capable of takeoff, landing, waypoint navigation, and object recognition and classification. Based in Ithaca, New York, the organization operates within the research services space and functions as a registered student group at Cornell University, with a sizable undergraduate membership actively participating in UAS activities. The team competes in the annual SUAS competition organized by AUVSI, drawing participants from more than 50 teams globally and thereby engaging in a high-level forum for unmanned aerial systems research and demonstration. CUAir’s work centers on advancing practical autonomous flight capabilities and related perception tasks for unmanned aircraft, contributing to the broader field of UAS research through a student-led, university-affiliated program.
