Cryptic is a not-for-profit arts organization and producing arts house based in Glasgow, Scotland, employing between 11 and 50 staff. Founded in 1994 by Cathie Boyd, Cryptic supports contemporary artists and presents inventive experiences to engage audiences. The organization produces multi-media performances and installations that fuse music, sonic, visual and digital arts, with projects spanning traditional concert halls, industrial sites and digital platforms. Its three main programmes are Sonica Glasgow, Cryptic Artists, and Cryptic Nights, focusing on world-class audiovisual performances, nurturing mid-career musicians, and mentoring emerging Scottish artists. To date, Cryptic has programmed more than 2,200 artists and reached over 1.3 million people across 33 countries, reflecting its international reach from a Glasgow base.
