The owner Merwyn Thomas Melvin II owned and operated Continental Group Underwriters, which was a Life and Health Insurance Company, established in 1990 and located in Baton Rouge, LA. In 2003, Mr. Melvin purchased Ronnie Richey Insurance Agency located in Gonzales, LA. This agency was established in 1974 by Lucy and Ronnie Richey. Lastly, Mr. Melvin purchased a second Gonzales agency, Ascension Insurance, owned by Mary Jo St. Amant . In 2005, Mr. Melvin consolidated all of these agencies into Crown Standard Insurance Agency which is located off of Burnside Avenue in Gonzales, Louisina.
