Cool Culture is a nonprofit based in Brooklyn, New York, that uses arts and culture alongside social justice principles and partnerships with families, community-based organizations, schools, and cultural institutions to improve outcomes for economically challenged children and families and to strengthen communities. Its work is interdisciplinary, drawing on cultural organizing, family engagement, and arts education. It collaborates with about 90 museums and cultural institutions, works with 400 early childhood programs and public schools, and provides free, unlimited access to the City’s museums for more than 50,000 historically and economically marginalized families. Last year, Cool Culture families made more than 185,000 visits to its 90 cultural partners, including the American Museum of Natural History, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Brooklyn Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, and Queens Museum of Art. In 2025, the organization announced leadership changes with Ahmed Yearwood stepping into the role of Board Chair and Cathy Elkies serving as Vice Chair.
