Connected Warriors is a community based volunteer organization providing free, trauma-conscious yoga therapy for service members, veterans and their families in the United States. Connected Warriors was founded in August 2011 by a group of professionals and yoga teachers in the South Florida area who, as long time practitioners themselves, know the powerfully beneficial effects of this ancient system. Connected Warriors has established a nationwide network that includes 719 Certified Yoga Teachers who volunteer their time and talents to instruct classes at local yoga studios, community veteran centers and other donated spaces. Therapeutic yoga practices, including relaxation and meditation, are a valuable treatment component for post traumatic stress and other trauma-related psycho-emotional difficulties. Overseas deployments can affect service members, veterans and their families for years. Participants of our current classes learn how to handle stressful situations in a more relaxed manner by quieting and focusing their mind, which encourages positive thoughts and self-acceptance. Connected Warriors is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded on the principles of volunteerism and selfless giving. It is a collection of yoga teachers, business professionals and military veterans who have joined together to honor military men, women and families by making available an effective method of health and well being. The practice of yoga is used as a powerful tool helping Veterans overcome stresses, injuries and unwanted effects of military service.
