CIC is a learning network and community of practice for people engaged or interested in the field of community indicators and their application. We believe information sharing across areas of interest is a key element in successful work to benefit people and their concerns about their communities. CIC further believes that collaboration and open dialogue across geography and discipline is key to successful democratic decision making and action. We actively foster collaboration between community indicators users and performance measurement users. Bridging the gap that traditionally exists between these two different approaches to measurement and evaluation provides a way for community groups and governments to learn how to coordinate their efforts to better serve the people who live and work in their communities. Fostering these growing collaborations enhances the lives and well-being of everyone. Because of the varied organizations it serves, CIC is fast becoming the thought leader in the world of indicators and performance measurement. We are recognized as a collaborator/integrator and we can convene groups from varied areas, across disciplines. We are actively driving research to enhance and expand the body of knowledge about indicators, their use, and their application to create better communities everywhere.
