Colby College is a liberal arts institution in Waterville, Maine, founded in 1813 as one of the oldest colleges of its kind in the United States. It emphasizes undergraduate study within a tightly knit, academically integrated community and draws students from nearly all U.S. states and about 70 countries, supported by partnerships across cultural, research, medical, and business institutions. The college hosts programs and facilities such as the Colby College Museum of Art, the Lunder Institute for American Art, and DavisConnects, which combines liberal arts study with internships and global opportunities. In 2021 it opened the Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the first such institute at a liberal arts college. In late 2025 Colby announced plans to develop a state-of-the-art science complex, part of expanding its science and technology infrastructure.
