Cobre Las Cruces is a copper mining and production complex located near Sevilla in Andalusia, with operations spanning the municipalities of Gerena, Guillena and Salteras and facilities in La Algaba. The site began producing copper cathodes in 2009, following exploration that started in 1992, and claims a fully integrated process that converts ore to copper metal within its own facilities. The company emphasizes an advanced, sustainable hydrometallurgical plant designed to deliver high-purity copper cathodes of a standard recognized by global markets. The operation supports direct employment for a workforce and contractors, with broader regional economic impact through indirect and induced jobs. Its corporate social responsibility arm, the Fundación Cobre Las Cruces, has funded initiatives in economic development, infrastructure, culture, sport, and environmental protection in neighboring municipalities since 2010. In 2024, Cobre Las Cruces participated in the RAWMINA project, testing technologies to extract cobalt, tungsten, gold, and silver from mine waste as part of an EU-funded initiative.
