The Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL) is a private, mid-sized nonprofit humane society based in Cleveland, Ohio, founded in 1913. It operates an expansive animal resource center and shelter on Willey Avenue, replacing its original 1917 cottage with a facility of about 40,000 square feet. The organization rescues abused and neglected animals, shelters homeless pets, and advocates for compassionate and responsible pet guardianship. It does not turn away animals due to age, health, or temperament and provides food, shelter, and medical care upon intake. 

The APL maintains a Second Chance Program that offers additional care for animals with treatable illnesses, injuries, or modifiable behavioral issues, while keeping healthy and friendly animals available for adoption without time limits. Serving the Cleveland community, the organization supports animal welfare through adoption, medical care, and outreach aimed at improving how people care for companion animals.
