Cleanslate Chicago operates as a social enterprise within Cara Collective, providing street-cleaning services across Chicago neighborhoods. It pairs this routine service with a workforce program that employs job seekers in transitional roles, aiming to improve safety, revitalization, and vibrancy through clean streets. Since 2005, the program has engaged more than 4,000 individuals in transitional work, with over 1,000 moving on to permanent employment.

Based in Chicago, Illinois, the organization sits in the civic and social sector and focuses on urban revitalization through workforce development. A notable development in its activity is the Ward by Ward initiative, launched in 2017 and beginning in mid-May to extend the program into Chicago's 29th Ward.
