City Year Rhode Island is a small nonprofit organization in the education administration field, based in Providence. It places AmeriCorps members in partner schools as full-time Student Success Coaches who work with teachers to support students’ academic progress, attendance, and social-emotional development. Through this service, corps members develop leadership and career readiness skills intended to prepare them for college and long-term careers; City Year operates as part of a national network with more than 3,000 AmeriCorps members across 29 communities and international affiliates in South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Its work is carried out through collaborations with schools and broader community and public/private sector leaders to expand opportunities for students and strengthen the local talent pipeline. The focus is on students within schools, addressing academic progress, attendance, and well-being to support long-term success. In 2025 City Year launched the Student Success Coach Learning Network to enhance recruitment and retention of student success coaches.
