The City of Kirkwood, Missouri, is a municipal government serving a mid-sized community in Saint Louis County. Founded in 1853, the city spans about 9 square miles and had a population of about 27,540 in the 2010 census. It operates its own water and electric utilities and maintains more than 300 acres of parkland, including a central park with an aquatic center, ice rink, outdoor amphitheater, ball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Located in Southwest St. Louis County, Kirkwood serves residents and local businesses with a range of city services and strong neighborhoods supported by quality schools. In November 2025, the city partnered with St. Louis County to improve safety at two pedestrian crossings on Big Bend Road.
