Circle Camps for Grieving Children provides free overnight camping experiences for young girls who have experienced the death of a parent. The program blends typical camp activities with a supportive environment that enables campers to share their grief. Operating in the mental health care space, it focuses on peer support and coping within a supervised, residential setting. The organization began with a first program in 2002 at Camp Tapawingo in Sweden, Maine, and expanded to five locations by 2014, serving more than 300 campers. Its locations include Circle of Tapawingo in Sweden, Maine; CircleWest in Malibu, California; Circle of Fleur de Lis in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire; Circle of EKC in Morgantown, West Virginia; and Circle Summit in the New England region, with its base in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
